New Bond Movie

  • Nov. 23rd, 2008 at 11:01 AM

Went and saw Quantum of Solace last night with friends.

I'm not going to talk about the movie or anything, but will say that it was an enjoyable ride, but did require seeing the previous movie, Casino Royale beforehand. While the movie is based on a short story by Ian Fleming, the title is just...terrible. Daniel Craig's Bond is very much along the lines of the Connery character, or at least has certain similarities of personalities and all. What was lacking was the sexual heat between Bond and his "Bond girl" for the movie, but given that it continued from where Casino Royale left off, the absence of that wasn't surprising, but made the film a bit atypical of the Bond movies imo.

An all right movie. Go see it.

I think these two movies are serving the same purpose as the most recent two Batman movies, which is to say they're serving as an origin story. The Making of Bond, if you will. At the end of QoS, Bond is certainly looking and acting more like Bond, and I would be surprised if he wasn't much more Bond for the next film.

I'm curious if it'll be an original piece again, or a remake, now that the bad guys are outed and there's room to bring in one of the older films that featured them more explicitly.

I tend to agree with you Michael, especially about the "origin of Bond" comment, the fact that at the end of QoS he was acting much more like Bond. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with the next Bond film - but I'll be looking for it, definitely.
