Busy Day Ahead

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 8:01 AM

Today promises to be a very busy day.

Have a tough morning ahead of me. There is a Greek language lesson today and an assignment to be finished by 1:00 pm, and I also have a Greek oral exam this morning that I look forward to...NOT.

Add to that the fact that I'm still feeling pretty terrible, as my right hip and leg are quite painful, and well, this day promises to be just a lot of fun.

In addition to that, I have to go over to the house to pick up clothes, as I'm running out of some of the bare essentials. And I need to do some washing of underwear and socks as well.

Finished the Oral Exam

Just finished the Greek oral exam about 10 minutes ago. I did pretty okay, according to the teacher, and he said that he's been pretty pleased with my work on the course so far, this despite the bad cold and the business with the house.

Back to regular Greek class work now.

Dollhouse Defunct

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 3:21 PM

Just been catching up on a bit of the news and all. I see that Josh Whedon's Dollhouse has been cancelled finally. Not surprising.

I never really cared for the series after the third and fourth episodes. While I know that the first six episodes were what FOX wanted, by the time the series got good (according to various sources), I had already abandoned it. That's why tv producers and writers and folks at originating networks must guarantee that they hook the audience in the second or third episode, otherwise people go on to other things and other tv series. The series just didn't hook me, and I can't say I was surprised to hear that it had been axed.

Firefly is a perfect example of a show that should have had a long life, but died after 13 episodes. Not because the series was bad. Not because the acting was terrible. Because the originating network didn't give Josh Whedon a chance to do anything with the show. I know that Dollhouse has its followers, and I wish them well if they try to resurrect the series in some form or other. Personally, I'd rather see another Firefly movie, but that's doubtful with Nathan Fillion working on Castle and Morena Baccarin working on V.

2 Weeks in a Hotel and Counting

  • Nov. 12th, 2009 at 4:31 PM

Supper time tonight at the Southway Inn will mark the end of my second week living here in the hotel.

Trust me, folks, when I say that spending three days in a hotel for a convention or whatever is not the same as living in a hotel for two weeks (and at least another three weeks).
