The drive home from work normally takes about 20 minutes, but today it took me around an hour or so. The weather is, to put it bluntly, abominable. The snow started coming down around 10:15 am or so, and has continued on in windblown, heavy falls all day. Don't even want to guess how much has fall, but there's at least a good 3 inches on the ground already if not more; suffice to say, it was *heavy* to clean off my car when I got out of work. On the road itself, the drivers were all going a bit cautiously, and there were a few accidents that I saw. I guess if I had had my choice, I would have taken the day off from the office and worked at home, but it didn't seem bad this morning when I went to work, as it wasn't snowing, and I had hoped that I would beat the snow home. No such luck.
On the other hand, the good news is that when I arrived home, there was a package waiting for me from Jeff Combos and the folks at Exile Games. UPS had delivered my copy of the new Hollow Earth Expedition (HEX) sourcebook, Secrets of the Surface World, and a gorgeous book it looks to be, too. (Heck, I know it's gorgeous, since I helped write a few bits in it and did some proofing of the revised version.) Really glad to get my hands finally on a copy of this book, and want to thank and congratulate Jeff Combos, Melissa McNally, and the folks at Exile Games for their fine work on this product and their receptiveness to ideas and the like from the folks who frequent the Exile Games forums.
In the meantime, I just heard from SteveB and Kathy that the Friday night gamers will be out at my place tonight for game. When I asked if they were sure, the reply was: "This weather is just inconvenient," Kathy said to me, "and we've all decided that it's not going to stop us gaming tonight!" They're either real troopers, or maybe I'm just doing something right when I GM. Either way, neat.
Anyway, gotta get going. Stuff to do, and dinner to prepare for. :)
