Broadchurch Thoughts (No Spoilers)

I just caught the first episode of Broadchurch on Showcase Canada tonight.

All I can say is... WOW! I've been waiting to see this English series set in the small market town of Broadchurch, as I've heard good things about it, and tonight's opening episode definitely was terrific and intriguing. Well worth waiting for.

While David Tennant is more known for his work in Doctor Who, I found him much more enjoyable to watch in this episode than in the former series, as he was more focused, serious, and definitely a man on a mission in this one. He's playing the outsider in the series, and I'm looking forward to how this story evolves over the eight (8) weeks. His foil, played by Olivia Colman, was also very good in the episode and brought home the fact that the locals know each other well, and the crime committed in the seaside market town is heinous.

Showcase will be showing the eight episodes over the course of four weeks, airing new episodes each Sunday and Monday nights. I'm quite looking forward to the rest of this ride.
