R.I.P. Frederik Pohl (1919-2013)

Some very sad news in the science fiction & fantasy field this morning.

Frederik Pohl has died.

RIP Frederik Pohl, the Man Who Transformed Science Fiction

Science Fiction Titan Frederik Pohl Dies, Age 93

I first discovered Pohl's writing when I was about 15, reading Search the Sky (with C.M. Kornbluth) (1954), A Plague of Pythons (1965), and several others, but I will always remember him for the Heechee series of books (beginning with Gateway (1977), the Starchild Trilogy (with Jack Williamson), and the Space Merchants books (with C.M. Cornbluth), and... well, there are just so many good books by Pohl that I really enjoyed over the years. *sigh*

Terrible loss in the field.

Rest In Peace, Frederik Pohl. You've finally found your mother lode through that gateway in the sky.
