Dave Stevens Dies

Been catching up on a bit of the news from yesterday, and was shocked to learn that

Dave Stevens Died at the age of 52

Stevens died after losing his fight to leukemia. Stevens was the artist who rekindled the interest in "good girl art" and Bettie Page, and used the image of the famous pin-up girl as the inspiration for a lot of his artistic creations. He is probably best known for his creation of the comic book The Rocketeer (which was made into a movie in 1991 iirc. However, for me, one of Dave Stevens best creations was the comic Airboy, which I adored because of its Pulp goodness (not that a lot of his work didn't have that Pulp goodness, of course), and still have to this day in my collection.

Rest well, Dave. The pencil has finally been put down.

RIP Dave Stevens.
