While I understand that the producers and writers knew they had to wrap up the series in seven episodes (as that was the length of their "season" this year), I was disappointed in the manner in which the series finale came across. I'm not going to talk about the various things in the episode (other than in Comments for those who want to discuss this with me), but...
Jericho is/was a television series that had a lot of promise and potential. What started off as a series that was about the post-apocalyptic survival story of a small town, and the stories of the people living in that town, turned into something else that, when all is said and done, was less than satisfactory, and which was rushed to completion in a total of seven episodes in a "season" that only happened because of the fans support and write-in campaign. Whether Jericho returns to the small screen again is anybody's guess, but is not likely to happen, which makes it all the sadder. I really liked Jericho and what it tried to do at the start.
However, when all is said and done... Jericho started with a bang, but went out with a whimper.
Sad, really. Not unexpected, but sad. :(
