Friday Night's HEX Gaming, Part 4

As mentioned in earlier blog entries, I had a terrific time again with the Friday night gaming group.

Nick continued his Hollow Earth Expedition adventure that he's been running for all of July. Another highly enjoyable game session, which sadly, wrapped up the adventure. Again, it was great to play on the other side of the GM Screen for a change. You can read about the previous game session in this blog entry.

Everyone showed up at my place for the game around 7:15 pm or so. We chatted for about 15 minutes while Nick got set up on his side of the GM Screen, and then we got down to the gaming session. As we proceeded through the Nazi base, we faced some opposition, mostly Nazi mooks and the like, though we did have a couple of more interesting opponents in the form of some SS shocktroops, and a couple of frog-like creatures that the villain had enslaved with control collars, before we confronted Major Hermlich. After some posturing, wherein the villain's plan was fully revealed (a massive device to weaponize the magma of the nearby volcano), we had the final showdown with the madman's henchmen, rescued the imprisoned tribesfolk (including the lovely Temia, whom Tom's character had fallen for earlier), and then blew up Hermlich's flying vehicle when he attempted to escape. (But you know what they say about killing villains in Pulp adventure, so...)

Anyway, the game session wrapped around 10:40 pm, so after we helped Nick pack up, we all sat around and chatted about the game for a bit. I have to say that I really enjoyed myself playing in the adventure, and had a blast with my character, Archibald ("Archie") Weatherby. Nick mentioned that he was glad the adventure was over, as while he enjoyed running the game, it wasn't something he wanted to do regularly. I took him aside, and thanked him for the hard work he'd done on the other side of the GM Screen, and that I really appreciated the chance to get to play in a game.

So I guess that means I'll be back in the GM's chair next Friday night. I'm sort of looking forward to it, but have to say I'll miss playing for sure.
