Day 12 – Old RPG You Still Play/Read
Interesting question, this...
I can't honestly say that I go back and re-read some of the older rpgs that are in my possession, but on actually thinking about the matter, there are a couple that come to mind.
There are two roleplaying games that I've actually spent time re-reading over the years. The first of these is the DragonQuest fantasy roleplaying game, published originally by SPI back in 1980. Mostly this consists of looking through old adventures for new ideas, but I've also read through the rules for inspiration on a few things.
The second game that I've looked through again and again over the years has been the Atlantean Trilogy roleplaying game published by Bard Games back in the day, starting with the Arcanum volume. The third game that I've re-read over the years has been Morrigan Press's Atlantis: The Second Age (which is the precursor to the current game from Khepera Publishing). Both games have been marvellous inspirations for my fantasy gaming over the years, and I've pilfered beasties and the like for my fantasy games (and even some of the more modern or science fiction rpgs) that I've run over the years.
Three terrific pedigrees, if you ask me. :)
