The reason for this has been varied. I was trying to get some reading in before the end of November, my vision has been a bit crazy since I started the insulin, and a few other things have been going on.
Friday night's game of the a|state roleplaying game went very well, and I and the players enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. I'll get around to blogging about the game when I get a chance, but I'm not sure when that's going to be due to the blurriness of vision that I've had since I started the insulin.
I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. After I took my Saturday night insulin shot, Donna called around 10:45 pm asking me to meet her at the Ottawa General Hospital. Her husband, David, had been brought in after she found him unconscious on the floor of the house. It turned out that David is being treated for diabetes since 2012 but that he hadn't told her about the condition. Anyway, he was admitted to the Ottawa General emergency department and was found to have a sky-high blood glucose. Donna wanted me there as I'm the only one she knows with diabetes, and she needed someone to talk to, someone to talk with David, and a bit of comfort in regards to what had happened. To give the short version of the story, I spent the night at the hospital with Donna and David. David was released this morning on condition that he take better care of himself and that he set up an appointment with an endo as soon as possible. And I'm sure that he and Donna will be having a chat about his having concealed his condition from her. I got back to the house around 9:15 this morning, and showered and took care of myself.
In the meantime, I'll be running the a|state RPG on the Sunday gaming group this afternoon, and am looking forward to that, though I am somewhat tired myself right now.
Time for a bit of lunch, and some reading of the game material before things start this afternoon.
