I woke up this morning, having to get myself to the hospital lab for my diabetes blood tests. It was snowing, and somewhat cold outside (-20oC with a wind chill of -30oC). Not pleasant. To make matters worse, I wasn't feeling all that good after the fasting overnight, and my blood sugar reflected this...
I got to the hospital for the blood tests, and learned to my surprise that the blood work ordered was going to keep me there for a couple of hours, due to some of the extra tests the doctor had ordered because I'm now on insulin. I called work and told them I'd be in late, and the boss had no problem with this. My work project that got into full swing this week is functioning well. Nothing bad so far, right?
Then I realised that I wouldn't be able to get out to eat breakfast until around 9:30 this morning, and that meant I'd get in to work later than I expected. Ah, well, nothing to be done.
Anyway, suffice to say I got to work around 10:45 this morning, my stomach resents having eaten breakfast as late as I did (and it was nothing fancy, either) and I feel somewhat nauseous, my arm hurts and the bruising is already starting to come out, and my current blood sugar is high enough right now (no numbers being given here) that I'm feeling...bleh.
Ah, well, at least I'm still functional to work.
