I managed to get out in the early afternoon with spross, and we went over to one of the gaming stores for the celebration of roleplaying games (if that's what one can call it). There were only two stores in Ottawa, Fandom II (which doesn't have a website) and Kobold's Corner, that were participating in the day's events. Since the latter is deep in the heart of West End Ottawa, spross decided that we'd go down to Fandom II, as that was by far closer (relatively speaking).
To say I was disappointed when we got there is an understatement. There weren't a lot of people at the store, not surprising given we got there about 1:30 pm, but from the Free RPG Day stuff that was left, nothing really appealed to me. There were a couple of Pathfinder materials, the DCC RPG GM Screen, a couple of other things, and the Munchkin bookmark. I had been hoping to get a hold of the Atlantis: The Second Age and Hellas: Worlds of Sun and Stone Quickstarter adventures, but such was not to be the case. The owner of the store, Randy, told me that both of those had disappeared relatively quickly in the morning and that I was out of luck. With luck, I'll be able to get a print copy of the two products from the Free RPG Day Kickstarter that Khepera Publishing did for this that I participated in, so we'll see how that goes. And there should be a PDF that will be made available for this soon as well.
spross and I headed out, having wasted the trip downtown, and went and took care of picking up some lunch and a couple of other things before he had to head off to work, so that was Free RPG Day for me.
