I woke up in the morning, which was relatively cool though it warmed up during the day, and went to work since I didn't have the day off seeing as it was a Friday. I'll be taking off Monday so as to have a long, 3-day weekend, as there weren't a lot of folks at the office the past two days (skeleton staff is an understatement between holiday time and vacation time at the beginning of July).
The weather in Ottawa was relatively cool for a July 3rd, hitting around 23oC, so I couldn't complain. The allergies were pretty bad yesterday, so that was somewhat annoying, but that's been my lot in life all summer so far. Meh. Work was uneventful, though Donna brought in some cheesecake cupcakes, and I had one of those. Very tasty. I stopped off and did some grocery shopping, and confirmed that my blackforest cake will be ready for pick-up on Sunday morning (mom told me she'll do the honours in this regard). After I got home, I put the groceries away, did a bit of vacuuming and some cleaning up downstairs, and then took somewhat of a nap. I had a few e-mails and best wishes for my birthday from several of my friends, and spent a bit of time talking with
I had a simple supper of some chicken schnitzel, a small salad, some brussel sprouts, and a baked potato. Tasty. And then I spent the evening gaming with the Friday night group. I ran a game session of Atlantis: The Second Age, and everyone enjoyed themselves, so that was good. Kathy had brought some chocolate cheesecake cookies for the birthday celebration, so we took a break and I had one of those with a cup of peppermint tea. Very nice. We broke up about 11:00 pm after a good night's gaming, and a good night was had.
I got to bed around 11:30 pm last night, and read for about thirty-five minutes before turning off the lights and falling asleep rather quickly (for a change). Unfortunately, I woke up with acid reflux around 3:20 this morning, so that was the only thing that really put a damper on what had been a nice birthday.
But today's a new day, and the start of a new year for me. Hope it's better than last year. :)
