Anyway, back to the Diabetes Clinic visit. After waiting a half hour to see the doctor, though I'd had my blood pressure taken earlier (it's excellent, btw), we finally got down to business. It turns out that I've lost 8.5 lbs (just over 4 kilos) since I last saw the endocrinologist, so that's a win/win. The blood tests came back very positive, with my a1C down from 7.2 to 6.5, and my cholesterols and triglycerides were all very good good. Something that surprised me, to be honest, as the triglycerides are something I constantly fight against. *All* the numbers are good, and everything is doing well. The kidney tests showed that they're functioning good, and there are no other problems. He decided to take me off the Glumetza, and see what happens with the numbers and blood glucose. So I'm dropping another medication (hopefully won't have to go back on it).
After examining my left leg and ankle, the doctor is not convinced that the leg/ankle pain and swelling of the ankle, plus the resulting foot pain, are due to the diabetes. He said we're going to keep an eye on it for a bit, and see what happens (or doesn't happen), and then make a decision from there if I need to be referred to another specialist for that.
So a good, positive appointment at the Diabetes Clinic. Yay! :)
