Happy Birthday, NASA!

Like many of my older friends here on LJ and in the non-virtual world, I was raised on science fiction and space travel, both in the literary and the factual sense. I remember being fascinated and mesmerised by the programs of NASA and the Soviets, and loved to read books or see tv shows and documentaries about this sort of thing. I've shed tears of joy and tears of anguish at some of the ups and downs of the various national space programs like many others.

Well, today, NASA is 50 years old.

Celebrate the life and times of NASA folks, as it's the place where *my* early dreams were made true. :)
