While I'm about to talk about the movies somewhat here, there will be no spoilers for either film. (I'm not that cruel.) Here's the second of the reviews.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens... What can one say? The basic premise of this movie, as really brought to light in the trailers for the film was: "Where is Luke Skywalker?" I was seriously concerned whether this movie could live up to the hype, but I can definitely say that it does. All the way! SW: The Force Awakens is jam packed with action and populated by both familiar faces and fresh blood, and it really recalls the movie franchise's former glory while injecting it with renewed energy. While it's great to see the old faces of Princess Leia and Han Solo (and some of our favourite robotic characters), the new characters of Finn and Rey carry the movie, the new droid BB-8 is funny and emotional in some ways, and the script bring the focus of the Star Wars story once more to two unlikely heroes. I loved the many homages to the original two movies, the various guest appearances in the film, much of the cinematography, but really liked *the story*. There are some lovely humourous scenes, some downright shocking scenes where I went "They didn't just do that!!", and a couple of warm and fuzzy scenes (for me, anyway), and overall, I thought the movie was quite good and definitely worth the price of admission. As for J.J. Abrams... Yes, the Force is with him. :) Rating: 9.0/10.
