Oh, right... A bit of a nap, salting the stairs to the house, reading a little bit, doing some computer file management...
Anyway, I meant to post this earlier today, but such is life.
Yesterday afternoon (Sunday), the usual gaming group met up for gaming purposes, and engaged in some character creation as they prepare to start a mini-campaign of the Fvlminata: Armed with Lightning RPG.
Once the players showed up and we chatted for a bit about life and how the week had been, we got down to business. I started off going through the basics of what the world of the Roman Empire is/was like, answered a slew of questions from Tammy about various aspects of the game, notably about magic (since she was going to take a Roman witch [venefica], and then got into the players' likes and dislikes about things Roman. Character generation in Fvlminata: Armed with Lightning is really quite simple once you get past the basics of the game (see the write-up on Claudius Edipius Macarus that I posted early this year), and the players were eager to get going and do up their personae.
Suffice it to say, the afternoon was an interesting one, with the players having a good time of character creation (I hope), and hashing out quite a few issues surrounding their personae and the relationships of said personae. An interesting mix, to be sure.
spross - He didn't really hem and haw all that much about his character this time out, and settled Servius Flavonius Castus, the second son of a wine merchant, who served in the militia and is now set to learn the family trade. His character is going to be indifferent, yet cheerful, a mix that I don't know how it will work out.
Tammy - Tamy didn't really have a difficult time deciding what to play, so she's settled on Zosima Flavonia, the wife of Castus's elder brother, Marcus Flavonius Metunus. Zosima is a witch [venefica] but I'm not sure whether she'll play a good Roman woman here or not, though I have my doubts (see below).
Overall, I was somewhat pleased with the game session of character creation and how things shaped up, having also determined some of the other family members of both the Flavionus and Nepius clans. I don't know whether spross will be able to play the character at all, as Fvlminata: Armed with Lightning is quite a bit more of a roleplaying game than others that I've run. Tammy, on the other hand, created a character that is more of a fantasy type character rather than a Roman character, as she skipped some of the more "typical" Roman skills to go with Magical Spells. We'll see how that works out.
In any event, I'm looking forward to starting the Fvlminata: Armed with Lightning game campaign next weekend, and seeing how it goes.
