The temperature is only around -8oC, but there is a major snowstorm blowing through the region that looks set to dump between 25 and 35 centimetres of snow on the Ottawa area and even more in some parts of the valley. The storm is one that came up from Texas, and is going to knock the region for a loop. Coming on the heels of the bitterly cold weather that we had recently, this just complicates matters for everyone, I suspect. The snow is supposed to keep falling until just before midnight tonight, but we'll see how that pans out.
Since they were forecasting this as early as Sunday, I made sure at work yesterday that I arranged to work from home today, and I'm certainly glad I did. It's treacherous out there, to be sure, and with the added blowing snow and the wind, I'm glad that I didn't have to go in to work and face this day outside.
To all my fellow Ottawans, and others who are in areas where this snowfall is coming down, I hope you have a good day, stay safe, and if you have to go outside, be careful out there.
