I went with friends to the Tim Horton's Brier 2016 here in Ottawa happening at TD Place, and caught Draw 10 of the Canadian Curling Championship. We went out to eat at the Milestones Bar and Grill (we had made a reservation!), and enjoyed a wonderfully good meal beforehand.
There was some terrific curling on the ice on Tuesday night, some neat shot making, and good cameraderie in the stands watching the four games. The final scores were as follows:
Quebec 9, Ontario 5
Alberta 3, Northern Ontario 8
Manitoba 6, Canada 4
New Brunswick 7, Saskatchewan 6
I was pleased by the play on the ice, though it made me miss actually curling something fierce (and no, it's not something I'll be doing any time soon, as my ankles just aren't up to the job, not to mention my sense of balance these days), but I had a good time.
After the games ended (close to 10 pm), we went over to the Patch, and rubbed elbows with other curling fans and met a couple of the teams. Had a good hour at the Patch, and I had one bottle of beer. Got home close to midnight, and managed to get a good night's sleep. Nice change.
And a great night out. Even if it makes me want to curl again. *sigh*
