Blood Sugar Blues

It's a good thing I got my hair cut yesterday on the way home from work.

I have just gotten home about ten minutes ago from the hospital, having had my bloodwork done (see yesterday's post about this). I was at the hospital at 6:30 am for the tests, since I had to have blood taken, urine specimen donated, and the wonderful "drink this glucose solution, and then we'll run all sorts of blood tests on you for a couple of hours" test.

I'm home like I said. Good thing I told the boss that I needed to take today off work, and that he understood when I explained to him. I feel sugar rush-y, I feel like throwing up, I feel nauseous, I want to lie down and die. I hate this set of tests, which is only done once per year, since it *always* makes me feel ill like this. On top of that, it's going to take a couple of days for my metabolism to get to what passes for normal. Dammit!

I'm drinking a cup of hot herbal tea, lemon I think (I can't taste anything but the glucose for several hours afterwards anyway), since it usually makes me feel a bit better. I intend to go to bed for the next few hours, and hopefully feel well enough to get up before 5:00 pm or so and have something to eat - if my stomach will take it. I *will* be drinking a lot of water today, of course.

Not a happy guy right now. :(

A glass of water to put by the bedside, after finishing this cuppa, and then off to bed.
