Day 9 - What things are a part of your ideal session, other than the actual game?
This one is an interesting question, that I don't think enough gamers consider.
For me, it comes down to two things. First, there's the camaraderie around the gaming table. It's all about the shared experience of an RPG session, through the collective efforts of everyone involved. But for me, this also means sitting around and sharing some food, drink, and our lives with each other. Makes for a close knit group of friends at the gaming table, people with whom I'm totally comfortable. The second thing for me is when the players reach the stage in their gaming experience where they can differentiate between their in-character knowledge and their out-of-character knowledge, and never let the two interfere with the game, making the switch between in-character and out-of-character smooth and effortless (or at least make it seem so!).
