The players showed up around 7:00 pm or so, give or take 10 minutes, and we spent a bit of time catching up with each other, and then got down to board gaming for the evening. Donna and DavidW were quite hyped about playing some games of The Great Dinosaur Rush from APE Games, after having checked out the website, and so that's what we decided to do.
After setting up The Great Dinosaur Rush board game on my dining room table, I talked to the players about the game rules, showed them a basic example of building a dinosaur, and then we got into the first game. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures of the game board or any of the dinosaurs built during the game, but it was a fun night for the five of us (Donna, DavidW, Kendall, Crystal, and myself) and both plays of the game were enjoyable.
The scores for the first game were:
It was a very close, veery tight game all the way through, with scoring on the last turn influenced by the Notoriety Points (Kendall would have won the game, except for the fact that she had 8 points). I played a pretty decent first game, and thought that I did all right for myself, although during the 2nd Turn I almost forgot to give my dinosaur some ribs during the Build Phase! Silly me! :)
The second game was interesting as well.
Again, it was an interesting game, and one that had the scores flip-flop a little bit near the end of the game on the final Exhibit Phase with some truly nice dinosaur Builds (Donna actually scoring 3 Dinosaur Bonus cards!). I scored a total of 15 points in cards as well on the final Exhibit Phase, but for a while I wasn't sure that I would have the Limb and Neck bones to make the second card during that play.
Overall, it was a fun evening of playing The Great Dinosaur Rush, and the four players agreed that it's a game that we'll be playing again in future as well.
