Lovely film with Lana Turner and John Garfield. Lana is a bit mis-cast in this as Cora Smith, as she was just a bit too glamourous for the role, but John Garfield was perfect in this one. I was also pleased with Audrey Totter's role as a woman with whom Frank Chambers (Garfield) gets involved with for a brief fling. The movie is an excellent example of film noir, and has many of the defining elements that make the genre great.
Of course, one of the things that struck me as the movie was coming to its end was that there should be a filk about the two main characters, Frank (Garfield) and Cora (Turner), obviously to the tune of "Jack and Diane" by John Cougar Mellencamp. I mean, the movie has all the elements that would go into making for a good filk.
Hmm, I wonder how many filks there are about film noir?
