Life throws unexpected curves at you. I know this. But there are times when I have to wonder, you know... Expectations are something that each of us has, pretty much on a daily basis, whether they are about ourselves, about others, or about events that surround our daily lives. They come in all shapes and sizes, often to fit our disappointments, and when reality doesn't fit our bill of lading, well...

What got me started on this? Well, imagine my surprise when I received an e-mail this morning (and no, I'm not naming anyone here) inquiring why I hadn't updated the journal yesterday. Now, as I stated when I first started this journal here on LJ, I wasn't sure about how much I would write, or even whether I would write an entry every day. This journal and its entries are about me, written by me, and are done at my convenience and whenever I have something to say or comment on or whatever. To be honest, I'm not even sure that anyone is reading this journal of mine, although I guess that if folks comment an entry or whatever, they are reading it. One can never be certain, however. I don't feel that I have to write something here every day, to be honest, although I guess this month so far i've been a bit verbose about stuff and have had a few things to write about. (Much of the entries to this point have provided some insight into my life for the readers' edification.) However, I don't really have any expectations for this journal or any timetable for how often I will write something here. This journal is as much for me, as it is for those who wish to read it.

So, expect to see a journal entry when you see it. :)

And for the person who wrote me asking about this, all I've got to say is: Hey, I'm sorry I'm not living up to *YOUR* expectations. It's tough enough living up to mine, thanks very much.

How Seren(ity)e Are You?

And now, to lighten things up a bit...

I didn't start out as a big fan of the Firefly tv series, because of the sequence in which it was shown on television here in Canada, but as the series went on, I came to love this thing. Of course, when SERENITY came out I had to go see it. Lovely movie by the way; if you haven't seen it, go and rent the DVD! So, for your entertainment, I present the following.

You scored as Hoban 'Wash' Washburne. The Pilot. You are a leaf on the wind, see how you soar. You have a good job, and a stunning wife who loves you (and can kill people). Life is good, which is why you can't help smiling. Now if you can just get people to actually listen to your opinion things would be perfect.

Simon Tam

Capt. Mal Reynolds

Shepherd Derrial Book

The Operative
