Garbage in the Wind

It's the late part of spring, and we've got summer-like weather. Why is it that people don't know how to pack and wrap their garbage before they put it out? :(

I live in a very nice condo complex, with two-story buildings, and the folks here have to put their garbage out the night before the garbage collectors come to pick it up on Fridays (but since we had a long weekend last week, this week garbage collection is today, Saturday). I live in the end unit, where the garbage hut is attached to my end of the building, and someone (usually me) has to unlock the hut and take the garbage out to the curb on the night before collection day. And if I open my window on the side of the building in what passes for my kitchen or living room area (not the window-cum-doors that open onto my small deck and garden area), I get the wafting smell of the the garbage if it's not packed properly. And it's even worse at this time of year, because of the heat.

So what do I get this morning when I open my windows for some of the nice, cool, morning air and the breeze? Yep, the wonderful smell of loose, rotting garbage! So tell me why it is that people at this time of year are stupid enough to pack their garbage in flimsy bags, and toss it onto the side of the curb, where the bag breaks or splits apart, and wonderful smelly, rotting garbage is now lying on the damn curb???!!! What the hell is wrong with people, and why can't people use *PROPER DAMN GARBAGE BAGS* to pack their garbage for the week's haul!!

Nuts! :(

Out to Shop

Had breakfast, turned on the air conditioner fan to get some air circulating in the house, and am heading out the door to do a bit of morning veggie shopping to have stuff for supper tonight. And it will get me out of the house and away from the nasty garbage mess mentioned in my last journal entry.

On the other hand, it's a beautiful morning, not too hot and not too humid, but that will change this afternoon. So, I'm going to take advantage of the morning weather and go out and get some shopping done. Just have to wait and see what the rest of the day brings. And with luck, the garbage will have been hauled away by the time I get back.

Saturday Thoughts

Came in from shopping about 25 minutes ago, and the garbage is gone. Hooray! :)

In the meantime, I've got to figure out what I want to eat for lunch, and then spend some time cleaning the bathtub downstairs. Just put a load of laundry on, as I'm short pairs of socks and underwear, and I need to make some homemade soup of some kind to freeze, so I have a few containers of that for cooler days and evenings.

May go out somewhere this afternoon, if spross comes by, but I've also got to get ready to run something on the Sunday gaming group as well, and I'm at a loss with them at the moment when it comes to Savage Mars.

The good news is that Doctor Who is airing tonight on Space, so I'll finally get to see "The Vampires of Venice".

But first things first. Lunch! :)

A Haul of Comics

As I suspected, spross dropped by the house after work. We had arranged to head out to West End Ottawa and the Comic Book Shoppe for the afternoon, so that is what we did.

I have just picked up my comics for the last seven (7) months!!! ::shudder::

Yes, it has been that long since I bought comics, and while I missed them, I'm just glad that he still had my subscription in the store. That was a *LOT* of comics, let me tell you. Needed a box to bring them back to the house. While there's my Legion of Super-Heroes and Justice Society stuff, there's also my Fables addiction stuff in there (including the Cinderella mini-series material, and some other stuff that I really like. Add the major recent cross-over of the Legion that just finished, and a few othger specials, and well...*LOTS* of comics.

I have no idea when I'll read them all, but it's going to be fun! :)

spross picked up his own comics as well, but he only had a month and a half or so of stuff, as well as an extra copy of Savage Mars, since he agreed to swap that with me for my copy of Slipstream.

So back at the house now, and looking forward to reading all those comics. Sort of. Plan to do some work on Savage Mars tonight, create a character or three for Atomic Highway, and watch me some Doctor Who. I think I need an extra six hours per day or some such just 'til the end of the weekend... :)
