Today is a Work Day

Sitting in the office this morning, with a cup of chai tea, and thinking that today is going to be a somewhat simpler day for the most part.

I'll be working a full day today, much to my boss's pleasure. I was supposed to have an appointment with Dr. Quack this afternoon, but since he didn't put a rush order on the ultrasound test results (see this journal entry for more on that stuff), the appointment for today was meaningless. I call Dr. Quack's office yesterday and explained the situation to Odette, his receptionist, and she told me that we could cancel the appointment, as I've got another one booked for the 17th. If the results show anything important, she would call me and we'd book an earlier appointment.

The only problem I've got at the moment is that ever since the ultrasound, the left side of my neck and throat have been even more painful and somewhat more swollen than they were. I attribute this to the effects of the ultrasound, as well as the hand-held device used to do it pressing hard against my throat and neck area, likely irritating things.

So in the meantime, it's a day's work at the office, with the final appointment of the week - the bone density test - tomorrow.

Shadows of Esteren Game Pics

As most folks know, one of the games that I picked up at GenCon Indy this year was the Shadows of Esteren gothic horror fantasy roleplaying game.

I was able to pick up the entire Shadows of Esteren Kickstarter package that was made available to those of us who had missed the Kickstarter by days or hours. One of the perks of the Kickstarter package was a personally illustrated page for the game on the main interior page of the Limited Edition hardcover of the game.

Here, I present the view of the two versions of the game. On the left, is the regular edition of the game rulebook, Shadows of Esteren, Book 1 - Universe. On the right is the Limited Edition of the rulebook. The contents of the two versions of the book are identical.

Here, below, is the main title page for the rulebook, taken from the regular edition of the rulebook.

And here is the same main title page for the rulebook, with the Limited Edition personally illustrated and signed artwork drawn by Nelyhann in my copy of the book.

Absolutely stunning. And quite remarkable.

Oh, and the game is pretty good, too. :)
