Long Weekend Ahead, Friday Morning Thoughts

Today is Friday, the start of a long weekend here in Canada as it's a civic holiday.

I woke up this morning feeling somewhat...tired, but otherwise alright despite the complaints I currently have health-wise. Still got the same problems I had yesterday, though I'm not coughing as much and the pain in my chest seems to have alleviated somewhat.

Even though it's a long weekend and I could have taken today off, I decided to go into work for half a day, as that will make my boss somewhat happy since a lot of folks are taking the Friday off. Besides, it gives me a chance to get some office work done without a lot of other folks around vying for my attention. My head is pounding somewhat, so I'm not sure whether I'm going to listen to lots of music here at work, but with most of the staff off today, I'm able to listen to music without headphones. Yay!

Once I get off work today, I need to start prepping for tonight's game. Yes, I'll be back in the GM chair when the Friday night gaming group convenes tonight. I'm running the Primeval RPG tonight, so I'm looking forward to that. So are the Friday night players.

In the meantime, another cup of peppermint tea to soothe my throat and ease my tummy a bit.

Books Read in July, 2013

Since it is the new month of August, and actually only two days in (so still the beginning of the month)... As is my standard usage of my blog space at or near the beginning of the month, I present the listing of my July, 2013 reads.

Books Read in July, 2013

Beggars Ride by Nancy Kress (r)

Betrayer of Worlds by Larry Niven and Edward M. Lerner

June, 2013 Locus

Ringworld by Larry Niven (r)

Beauty Queens by Libba Bray

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (r?)

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks (r)

A Trick of the Light by Louise Penny

As you can see from the above reads, July 2013 was a pretty good month of reading on my part, given that it's the summer months and I tried to get out more often than not. The reason I question above whether the F. Scott Fitzgerald above was a re-read is because I honestly don't remember reading it before (though it must have been part of the curriculum when I took a couple of English lit courses way back when). So I include it as a re-read. While much of the reading for July were re-reads, there were some nice surprises in there, notably the Libba Bray. Overall, I managed to read 7 novels, 0 RPGs and RPG products, 1 magazine, 0 comics, and 0 graphic novelss in July. This brings the year total in 2013 to a set of numbers that look like this: 32 books, 10 RPGs and RPG products, 15 magazines, 0 comics, and 1 graphic novel.

Getting Ready for Friday Night Gaming

Getting close to time to game with the Friday night group.

I'll be running the Primeval RPG this evening, and am quite looking forward to it. I haven't run the game on the group in a bit, since March, and am feeling somewhat out of sorts due to whatever is going on with my neck, throat, and chest.

Should be an interesting night of gaming. However, supper of some sort needs to be made first.
