Saturday Morning

I gamed quite late last night with the Friday gaming group, going until around 12:25 am.

So I didn't get to bed 'til late, and fell asleep around 1:00 am. I think I slept pretty well, though I was woken up at 7:15 am with pain in my esophagus and throat, as I was having terrible acid reflux. Part of that may have been due to the fact that I seem to have slept on one side, my left, and that always causes me problems for some reason. Another part of it may have been due to the fact that I ate some food that was a bit too spicy for me yesterday, but that's another matter. In any event, I took a couple of spoons of Gaviscon, and went back to bed for a bit, but couldn't really fall asleep again.

In any event, I've gotten up since then and had breakfast. A simple breakfast, with a cup of hot peppermint tea instead of my usual decaf coffee.

Going to turn my attention to other stuff this morning, and then see what happens.

Who Will the New Doctor Be?

I've been meaning to say something about this since I heard, but just hadn't gotten around to it.

For those who are fans of tv science fiction series, most of you have likely heard the news already. The BBC have announced that the new, 12th actor to play the Doctor in Doctor Who will be announced live tomorrow at 7:00 pm UK time (2 pm Ottawa time).

While there are a few bets on who's likely to be announced as the new Doctor, I can't say at this point that I actually care. The speculation on this has been rampant for the last few months since it was announced that Matt Smith would be leaving the role, but I haven't been enamoured of the series the last couple of years. Sure, I've been watching it, but primarily because there's not all that much science fiction, good or bad, actually on the air these days.

Personally, I'd love to see an older actor take over the role, but don't know whether that's a possibility at all. Just know that I prefer Classic Who to New Who.

Saturday Woes

Just got a call from my mom.

She called an amubulance this morning, and went to the hospital. Vomiting, lower back pain, and some other symptoms that have persisted for a day or so. They've started with blood tests, urine tests, and are sending her for an ultrasound, and depending what that shows, they may send her for an MRI as well. She didn't want to worry me, knowing how wretched and stressed I'm feeling at the moment, but she felt she needed to let me know where she was. She also said that, given how I'm sick myself with something, that I'm not to visit the hospital.

To make matters worse (if certainly interesting), my bloody mobile phone has died on me!

No idea what I'm going to do at the moment.

Friday Night Game Session

Forgot to talk about last night's game session.

Had a great time with the Friday night group. I ran the Primeval RPG on the gaming group, and the players had a terrific time with the game.

I'll blog more about the game session, but that will have to wait until I manage to catch up on the game sessions for both the Friday and Sunday gaming groups.

Lousy Saturday

Just got back from downtown Ottawa.

I went and took the mobile phone to one of the two service centers for WIND in the Ottawa region. It turns out that my battery was fine so it's probably the phone. One way or the other I'll get my Nexus back or WIND will be replacing it with another, possibly upgraded phone.

I've now got a temporary phone for around two weeks while my Samsung Nexus is out for repairs. Problem is... No one told me that there was a function on the damn phone to backup all the information on the phone to the SIM card. As a result, none of the information from the Nexus is transferred to the temporary phone, though it's got my default settings if you can call it that on the LG whatever-this-is. So I've lost all the phone numbers and information that I might have needed. Including mom's mobile phone number. Which I need, 'cause she's still in the hospital.

As far as I've heard, there's no progress with her condition, though she told me that she does feel somewhat better. They finally ran the ultrasound around 3:00 pm, and then she had to wait. When I last spoke to her, she was being seen by a doctor (who I'm not sure), so I have to wait until she calls me here at home again.

In the meantime, I'm dealing with all kinds of other problems right now. My paycheck did not get delivered on Thursday, so I've got no money for some of the groceries I need, and my bank account (like my pocket) is skint.

Great long weekend. *NOT*!
