Freezing, Rainy Saturday Morning

Woke up this morning feeling somewhat tired, but that was only to be expected after gaming last night with the Friday gaming group for the first time in a while.

Aside from being tired, I'm headached somewhat as well, and feeling out of sorts to be honest, as well as having some bowel and tummy problems. That's another matter I won't go into here (fortunately).

The weather outside is totally bizarre. Last night, the freezing rain came down as the temperature rose to around -9oC. It's still doing that outside, but the precipitation is now mixed rain and freezing rain, and the temperature is around -1oC, and is supposed to go up to 5oC! In the second week of January, for Goddess's sake! Sheesh!

This means I'll be taking things easy here at home today, for the most part, as I'm terrified of going out and hurting myself or adding more problems on top of the concussion. So better safe inside than sorry outside.

As mentioned, I gamed last night with the Friday night group. More on that in a blog post later.

Friday Night's Game Session of Yggdrasill

As already mentioned, I gamed last night with the Friday night group.

This was the first gaming session I've had in the new year, due to weather and physical problems, but I felt good enough yesterday to decide to run a game last night.

I ran a game session of the Yggdrasill game system last night.

Despite the weather conditions forecast, the various players were all here at my place for around 7:15 pm, so after recapping what had come before, we got down and into the game. This game session saw several combat situations, some very tough decision making, and some good roleplaying on the part of all the players. When the game session was over, the players felt like they had made the only decision that they could at the end, and they rather liked the ominous portent that I wrapped the game session on.

This session wrapped up the third scenario that the group has played of the game, and all of the players were rather pleased at how things are going. Most of the players stated that they're still quite enjoying the mechanical aspects of this game, and are having a good time with the Norse culture elements, finding this to be one of the serious strengths of the game.

A good way to start off the gaming year for 2014, and I'm looking forward to starting another Yggdrasill adventure with the Friday night group. (And for those of you waiting for a few more blog entries on the game, just be patient. I'll be posting up a few of these over the next few days.)

Shopped Out

Holy smoke.

Just came back about forty-five minutes ago from a shopping trip over to Farm Boy to pick up some basics. spross came over this afternoon, and was kind enough to give me a ride over there, despite the weather, since I'm still not allowed to drive the car.

The weather was relatively warm (for a winter's day) with rain coming down, but the world outside my house is still a frozen nightmare of a road and parking spots. Just getting to the car once spross and I left the house was a nightmare in and of itself, and I almost fell down twice.

The drive to the store was fine, as the roads were slick and somewhat icy in places, but SteveR was cautious and all. I had a bit of a problem concentrating on stuff when we got to the store, but managed to buy most of what I needed. By the time we left the Farm Boy, I was having headaches again and was feeling physically drained. When we got back to the house, I experienced a few tricky moments getting to the stairs which were clear of slickness and ice. As I climbed the outside staircase, I felt weak and faint and almost collapsed, but made it up to the house door and into the house on sheer willpower.

Once in the house, I made some cheese and crackers for a snack, and had a cup of peppermint tea with honey, which seemed to settle me down again. I went and just relaxed on the couch, eyes closed, for about twenty minutes, and feel a bit better now.

The effects of the concussion have obviously still not worn off. Dammit!

Anyway, time to start thinking of some supper.
