Wednesday Morning

Wednesday morning. The middle of the work week.

I woke up this morning feeling somewhat all right, and felt relatively refreshed. The mangled toe is still hurting somewhat fierce, but other than that I felt fine. That changed when I got out of the bed, and had to face the fact that my left ankle and leg were hurting a lot. I know that part of this has to do with the fact that with the broken, mangled toe on the right foot, I'm favouring the left more than usual. That doesn't make it feel any better, nor does it change the behaviour.

I got in to work with the car pool to find that my desk was somewhat swamped with paperwork, as the current translation job I'm working on moves into high gear. With luck, the day's work will keep me from focusing on the leg pain and all, and just allow me to get on with the rest of the day.

Anyway, it's time for a morning cup of tea of some sort, herbal I think...

R.I.P. Graham Joyce (1954-2014)

Sad news in the literature field.

Author Graham Joyce has succumbed to cancer at the age of 59.

Graham Joyce (1954-2014)

I can't honestly say that I was a reader of Graham Joyce's work, though his books that I did read - Dark Sister (1992), The Tooth Fairy (1996), and Indigo (1999) - were truly enjoyable reads for me, but very bizarre and strange in their own way. Lovely books, though. I always think of Joyce's works as being dark fantasy, maybe even very dark horror, but I'll leave discussion of his genre for more knowledgeable folks. Regardless, Graham Joyce's death is a blow to the literature field, and he will be sorely missed.

Rest In Peace, Graham Joyce.

Legion of Super-Heroes for the Big Screen, Perhaps?

I just saw that an argument for a Legion of Super-Heroes movie is making the rounds. Here's a fun piece about it.

5 Ways THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES Can Be WB’s Answer to Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

There's some interesting points made here, and to be honest, I would love to see an LSH movie, if done right. Heck, might even resurrect the comic book.

Mindset Change for My Wednesday Gaming Tonight

Got home a little while ago, after a somewhat long day at the office. Long, as in tedious, but that's about all.

Have spent a little time fleshing out the idea I have for a new Change Cage city for the Abney Park's Airship Pirates roleplaying game, set in the Quebec City area. It's looking promising, and I've even got a couple of plot ideas for scenarios I could run in that part of the setting.

However, in the meantime, I have to change the mental focus for gaming since I'll be running the Wednesday night group in the on-going Atlantis: The Second Age campaign game this evening. Going to require a bit of a mindset change to get out of the Airship Pirates frame of mind and into the Atlantis: The Second Age one.

But I'm quite looking forward to gaming this evening.

Getting Ready for Wednesday Night Gaming

I have spent a good 45 minutes napping before getting up and taking care of some of the preparation work that I need to do before gaming tonight.

This evening, I'm running the Atlantis: The Second Age sword & sorcery rpg with the Wednesday night group of players in action. It's been a couple of weeks since they gamed, so I know they're looking forward to it and I'm somewhat psyched about the game as well.

In the meantime, time to head upstairs and make some supper. Some roast chicken, a bit of salad and maybe another vegetable, and some sort of light pasta with it.

Have a good night, folks.
