A Quiet Saturday Morning

Saturday morning - the weekend! Hooray!

To be honest, this is a weekend that I've needed since last Sunday, as I've had one heck of a busy, and somewhat hellish week, from both a personal and work-related perspective. (No, I'm not going into detail on either subject.) So the plan for the weekend has been to take things easy, put no stress on myself about stuff, and to just try and get some relaxation time and de-stressing in.

Gaming with the Friday night group was a lot of fun, but I'll go into that in more detail in a separate blog entry. Suffice it to say, I got to relax for Friday night, and enjoyed myself thoroughly.

Today I'm planning to go out and grab some groceries this morning, and possibly take a bit of a stroll if my left ankle and leg allows for such thing, as the pain in both has been excruciating for most of the week. I have no other real plans for the weekend, other than to do a bit of gaming with the Sunday players tomorrow, watch a bit of hockey, and a bit of housecleaning. And perhaps some reading, as I seem to have fallen behind on that this month for some reason.

For now, time for a shower and then out to do some grocery shopping.

Earth Hour

Folks should not forget that today we celebrate Earth Hour.

Tonight's the night that we switch off the lights between 8:30 pm and 9:30 pm.

Earth Hour is designed to raise awareness of climate change, and was initiated by the World Wildlife Fund in Sydney, Australia in 2007. It is observed by at least 4,000 cities in 88 countries of the world (including the city of Ottawa).

So, remember, turn off the lights for an hour tonight and honour Earth Hour.

A Friday Evening of Tales of the Arabian Nights

As mentioned earlier today, the Friday night gamers did play last night, but managed to surprise me.

When they arrived around 7:00 pm, the players told me that they've found me to be quite stressed and not really up to snuff with rpging the last few weeks or so, and had decided that I would get a Friday night off to relax and unwind. To that end, the players and I got to game some Tales of the Arabian Nights, the magnificent board game from the folks at Z-Man Games.

I'm not going to go into detail about the game, but suffice to say that we played a complete game in around 4 hours or so, didn't rush things, had a blast watching our characters suffer the slings and arrows of Fate, and even got to see Ellie doing the paragraph reading for the rest of the players for 20 minutes or so before she got tucked in for some sleepy time. I got shape-shifted and Lost in the game several times, and so did not win this evening's game, but to be honest, I couldn't have cared as I was having so much fun just relaxing, and enjoying the adventures and mishaps that my character (and the others) had.

It's been a while since I got to play this game, and an enjoyable night was had all around. Tales of the Arabian Nights certainly hit the right spot for me last night. :)
