Busy Friday Morning

Friday morning.

The end of the week. Finally. I'm pretty happy that the weekend is nearly upon us, as I really need a chance to recharge my personal batteries, and get some rest in and a bit of down time. The work week has been pretty hectic, and today is no exception, so it'll be nice to step away from the office and the stress of the job for the weekend and get away from it all. And I'm hoping the health stuff that I'm dealing with at the moment subsides somewhat, but I'm not optimistic about that, as whatever it is it's still plaguing me.

I need to take care of some bill payments before the weekend is out, and have a few things around the house to get done as well. The laundry has piled up somewhat, much to my annoyance, but such is life. And I've run out of some essential groceries, so that's something else I need to do a bit of this weekend as well (grocery shopping). Next week, money will flow out of my pocket as I'll need to refill several of the diabetes meds prescriptions, so my budget is pretty much set for next week.

On the positive side, I'll be doing some gaming this weekend, notably playing the River of Heaven RPG tonight with my Friday night players, and running Atlantis: The Second Age on Sunday afternoon. Been doing stuff pretty much every day this week for the Atlantis game, so there's good stuff ahead there. So looking forward to both games.

However, for now, back to work.

Atlantis: City Guide Goodness

One of the products that I'm waiting for in terms of the Atlantis: The Second Age roleplaying game, is the Atlantis City Guide.

Over on RPGnet, Jerry D. Grayson posted up some of the artwork for the book, which is in layout, and I was intrigued by this piece.

The Prison of the Untamed Gods

So I sent a message asking him more about the place, and here's the stuff that he posted up about it, presumably the excerpt from the book.

Atlantis’ many past wars have decimated and erased entire cultures from the face of the Earth. Many Atlantean generals would bring homes slaves as well as the effigies of the conquered people’s gods. These gods were put on public display in a “prison”. The stone statues, religious artifacts, and primitive effigies are kept on display in separate rooms of a large granite building near the docks for all to see. Each room is dedicated to an imprisoned god and houses its relics, details of the history and the war that subjugated its people, and information on the great Atlantean men and women responsible for the victory. Many of the items are defaced with crude graffiti or smeared with animal offal or excrement. At night it is the Black Guardsmen along with the local Orixa priesthood who have the responsibility to lock the great building so that the angry untamed gods cannot escape.

A priestess of Ochosi assigned to the prison and who wants to see all the artifacts returned to their rightful places, she is very reasonable and tries to stop the sacrilege committed by tourists who come to see the “prisoners”.

The Black Guard and the priesthood are frightened of the building at night and keep all portals locked and barred. They say that one of the stone statues roams the halls at night enlisting the other imprisoned gods for an escape attempt. A magician or PC priest will be approached for help in stopping the wandering god.

I have to say that if the Atlantis City Guide's entries are all of a similar style to this, that book is going to be worth its weight in gold. I can't wait to get my hands on this book! :)

CanGames is One Month Away!

It's April 17th, and do you know what that means?

If you're in the Ottawa area, and planning to attend the game convention, CanGames 2015 is exactly one month (of Fridays) away!

So I thought I'd re-post up a listing of the game sessions I'll be running at CanGames this year.

Game: River of Heaven RPG
Time: Friday, 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: Waking from Vitrification is never a pleasant experience, but it is an unavoidable part of interstellar travel. With your first waking thoughts comes the usual wave of nausea. Several other cryopods around you are already open, with other individuals looking as dazed and confused as you. Long moments pass, during which several thoughts occur to you: You are in zero-G. The medical team are nowhere to be seen. The throbbing pain behind your eyes is getting stronger. Something is very, very wrong...

Game: Primeval RPG
Time: Saturday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: A simple camping trip and some botanical research, right? Yeaaaahhhh... That was a hell of a wrong turn. There's no road, it's a very different forest, and oh, yeah, it's millions of years ago and there are dinosaurs chasing you.

The Last Witness
Game: River of Heaven RPG
Time: Sunday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: Almost a century ago, against the better advice of the Hegemony, the Solar Witnesses dispatched the Revelation - an antimatter torch ship - on a pilgrimmage to the Machine Civilisation Polis in the Altair star system. It It never came back. That is, until now. You are members of a freelance search and rescue team hired by the Solar Witnesses to salvage their ship, and find out exactly what happened out there.

There are still plenty of spots for folks to play in both the Friday evening and Sunday afternoon River of Heaven games and the Saturday afternoon Primeval game, so I hope to see some of you at the convention and playing in these games. And even if you're not playing in my games, come and see me and say "Hi!" at this year's CanGames.

Like I said, one month away! Hooray! :)

Getting Ready for Friday Night Game

Been a somewhat busy afternoon since I got home from work.

I managed to do a bit of housecleaning, and some work to prepare for tonight's game of River of Heaven and Sunday afternoon's game of Atlantis: The Second Age. So a productive afternoon.

In the meantime, it's time for this evening's game session of the River of Heaven RPG with the Friday night group. I'm looking forward to this game session.

For now, time to head upstairs and make some supper. Some pasta with meat sauce, I think, and a salad. Sounds yummy!

Have a good night, folks. :)
