Early Morning at the Office

It's Tuesday morning. I have arrived in the office for the day's work.

I absolutely love the state of the office at this time of the morning. Most of the rest of my co-workers and others start arriving at 7:30 or so, the majority getting here around 8:15 or thereabouts, and so the office is very quiet around the time that I get in, the hum of the computers and the like just starting up, and the sound of the coffee maker and the aromatic scent of the coffee filtering through the office, as the break room door is open at this time.

There's a solid pile of paper waiting for me to go through on the desk this morning, so this is going to be a busy day, methinks.

With all the stuff that's been going on of late here at the office, re: the translation job mess, it's a kind of relief to have this quiet time at the office before the business of the day moves into high gear.

For now, time to get down to it.

My GenCon Schedule

As most folks know, GenCon Indy 2015 begins next week. So I figured I should post something up about my itinerary for the convention. I'm set to fly to Indy on the Tuesday, 28th of July, and I'll be coming back to Ottawa on Monday, 3rd of August, during the mid- to late evening. Yes, that's right... I'm actually going to spend the whole Sunday in Indy so I can take in a bit more of the convention and all, and use the extra day to get some rest that night. spross will be flying down for the convention with me, so that's cool.

I don't have any stuff really scheduled for the convention, other than a couple of games I'll be running and a game I hope I'll be able to get into. I'll be running two Primeval RPG adventures this year, and I'm looking forward to those. Here's the listings of the games I'll be running at the convention, for those who might be interested. While the Saturday game is full, there's still three (3) slots open for the Friday game, and of course there's the possibility that some folks won't show up, so Generic game tickets could get you into the games.

I've got a couple of other places I have to be, notably during the Wednesday evening and during Friday evening, but if folks want to meet up with me, play stuff or whatever, please get in touch with me, and we can arrange something. I'll be staying at the Indianapolis Marriott North (reservation willing!) but you can leave me a message on Twitter, if necessary.

In any event, I'm looking forward to seeing folks at the convention. Hope to meet up with old friends, and make some new friends. Oh, and do some gaming, of course! :)

One Very Important Thing to Remember If You're Going to GenCon

I've been giving some thought to all things GenCon Indy at the moment, given the convention is just about a week away, and thought that I would pass along a simple piece of advice: Remember the 5/3, 2, 1 Rule of GenCon. This means that in every 24 hours, get at least 5 (or 3) hours of sleep a night, 2 meals per day (at least one of them should be hot), and take 1 shower per day. And these are minimums, folks, bare minimums (at least for some people).

Following this basic guideline will keep you alive through the convention, maximise your time for gaming, and allow for the comfort of those with whom you are gaming. Please, please, please take a shower and use deodorant, folks. Oh, and no matter what you think, cologne/perfume cannot and does not make up for the lack of showering.

And here, to put the whole showering thing into perspective, is Savage Gypsy:
