A Chilly, Wet Thursday

A cold, damp rainy day here in the Ottawa valley. My bones are aching from it, notably in all the places where I've got arthritis or where I've had broken or sprained joints and the like. Not pleasant, and the Tylenol arthritis only does a marginal job of relieving said pain. Meh.

Work this morning is slow, but steady. The translation project I'm working on with my team is coming along, and it looks to be a bit ahead of schedule so this is good. Donna's got a case of the sniffles this morning, but it appears that most people have some sort of cold bug that's going around at the moment. I've still got my nasal drip, and am coughing somewhat, so we'll see where that goes.

Gaming-wise, last night's session of the Chill 3rd Edition RPG campaign with the Wednesday night group was a lot of fun, and creepy. The players and I had a good time of it, and I'll be blogging up the game session notes hopefully later today.

After work today, I've got an appointment with the doctor once more. This is to determine if I've gotten over the bug that I had that he prescribed the Biaxin antibiotic for. If I'm good to go, I can get the flu shot today, something that I really want to have as soon as possible.

Anyway, back to work here at the office.

Chill Convention Scenario Title Poll

As most folks know, I'll be running some Chill 3rd Edition investigative horror rpg goodness at CanGames 2016 in May. One of the scenarios will be set in 1850s Bytown (now Ottawa), though technically it will be set in The Corners (what will become known as Bell's Corners). I've got two titles for the scenario, and I want to know what folks think, so here's the poll. :)

If you have an idea for a different title for the adventure, please drop me a line here in the Comments section.

Poll #2027734 What CHILL Scenario Title Do you Like Best?

CHILL Scenario Title Poll

The Beast of Bytown
The Creature of the Corners
I like both titles, use the one you prefer
I dislike both titles, here's my preference (see Comments)
I don't care what you call the adventure
I want to object to this poll in its entirety

Doctor Appointment and Flu Jab

Just got home after getting off work, and going to the doctor's appointment.

I got to the doctor's office about 10 minutes late for my 1:20 pm appointment, and had to wait about 15 minutes longer for the check-up. He checked my lungs, did the lung thumping test (don't know what they call that one), and checked my throat and ears. He told me that my lungs are relatively clear, that my throat is somewhat irritated, and that my ears were clear. He said that I'm not over the infection in my chest and lungs, as the coughing can last for three months afterwards, but that I should keep an eye on things.

Then he surprised me by saying that I should have the flu shot right then and there. While all diabetics are recommended to have the flu shot for preventative and easing of symptoms purposes, the doctor told me that there's a particularly bad strain going around right now, and that I should have it immediately. He called the nurse in, and after sorting out the paperwork, I had the flu shot. She really had a great touch with the needle, and my shot of 0.5 ml of the vaccine was painless.

Long story short, I left the doctor's office, came home and am making lunch while I type this LJ post. My arm is somewhat irritated and hurting after the flu injection ("the jab" as it always got called at home when I was younger), but otherwise I'm all right.

Time for lunch.

Wednesday Night Game Report - Chill 3rd Edition Session 5

Last night, the Wednesday night players continued to play in their Chill 3rd Edition RPG campaign. Here are the game session notes. You can read about the previous session in this journal entry. This blog entry is relatively long, so I've put it behind a cut so that folks who don't want to read any detailed rpg posts don't have to.

Wednesday night's game session of the Chill 3rd Edition campaign with the players was a true joy to run. The players made a good deal of progress with the plot, experienced some of the supernatural forces that are called into play during Chill 3rd Edition game sessions, and had a great session of roleplaying various things among themselves. While she has a relatively average Communication Skill, Crystal did a terrific job giving Kendall's Wendy a pep talk, and brightened up the other characters' attitudes as well, and was a remarkable sequence in a terrific game session. I was pleased to see that the flow of Light and Dark Tokens was pretty good throughout the game, and relatively constant, and not just from Botches or Colossal Successes.

Overall, a lovely game session of the Chill 3rd Edition RPG, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next session of the case, and some of the surprises that are in store for the players and their characters. hehehe
