A Friday Morning Thought or Two

It's Friday. Thank Goddess.

After the week that I've had, I could really use the time off this weekend. While I've got the two gaming sessions of the Chill 3rd Edition game this evening (Friday) and on Sunday, I really need to chill out (no pun intended) for the weekend.

Work this morning is the usual hectic affair that it is on Fridays, and the morning is going to be keeping me busy.and today is not an exception. Ah well, it keeps me off the streets. :)

The dentist appointment yesterday? Not pleasant, and somewhat worse than I feared. It turns out I didn't chip the tooth, I actually cracked it. On the side, at the level of the gum. I'll be having a few dentist appointments this month and next (like I need the added stress of these!), and the hope is that he can do something so I don't lose the tooth completely.

Anyway, no more thinking about that for now. Back to work, and a cup of hot tea.

(Re-)Reading the SPQR Series

As a lot of folks know, I'm an avid book reader.

One of my favourite genres is mystery, and I love good historical mysteries. Especially Roman mysteries.

I was perusing the bookshelves at home yesterday, prior to heading for work, as I knew that I'd need a book to take with with me to the dentist's office. My eyes came upon the SPQR series of books by John Maddox Roberts, and I realised that I haven't read one of the books in the series in several years. As a matter of fact, I couldn't even remember the series and what it was about, other than the protagonist's name, Decius Caecilius Metellus the Younger, and so I snatched up the first book, SPQR I: The King's Gambit, to take with me for reading material.

I'm about half-way through the book, and have to say I'm really enjoying it. (Again, I think. Or not. Not sure.)

Getting Ready for Gaming on a Friday Night

Have had a very quiet afternoon, which I appreciated.

Took a nap when I got home, sat down and did some reading that I've been meaning to get around to, and then did some vacuuming and prepped the laundry for washing tonight.

I'll be running the Friday night session of Chill 3rd Edition this evening, and am looking forward to that. Been feeling somewhat queasy and a bit nauseous for most of the late afternoon, so hope I'm all right and haven't come down with something. It's got me feeling a bit gloomy, but I'm hoping that gaming will cheer me up.

Time to head upstairs and see what I can rustle up for supper this evening. Then on to gaming.

Have a good night, folks.
