Monday Morning Musings

Well, it's a Monday morning and the start of a new work week.

The weather outside seems even gloomier this morning than it was yesterday, and that's saying something, but I probably feel that way because it's somewhat colder and just as damp. My bones, and a few other places, are hurting this morning.

It promises to be a busy week at work here, punctuated by a few other things going on in my life. There are two doctor appointments this week, but no blood tests or the like, and I'll need to remember to pick up insulin later in the week, but other than that, I just want to catch up on a bit of reading (including the Fvlminata: Armed with Lightning alternate history Roman RPG), continuing the writing of the two Chill 3rd Edition RPG scenarios for CanGames 2016, and some other stuff.

Speaking of the Chill 3rd Edition RPG, I managed to run a full session of the game with the Sunday group yesterday, and will blog about that later. Fortunately, we in Ottawa seem to have avoided the freezing rain that was forecast for yesterday (either that, or the weather was too warm and it all melted).

Rizzoli & Isles S1 Series Thought

Last night, after gaming and supper, I relaxed somewhat and watched some the final two episodes and the special features on the First Season set of DVDs of Rizzoli & Isles.

I don't know, but I think that the season ender was one of the most clever, one of the most shocking, and one of the most brilliant season enders for a detective series that I've ever seen. (And no, I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the show!) It made the viewer go, "NOOOOOOO!!!!" but at the same time made you say, "I want more, NOW!". Great stuff.

Sunday Afternoon Game Report - Chill 3rd Edition Session 13

Yesterday afternoon, the Sunday gaming group continued to play the Chill 3rd Edition RPG campaign they are involved in. Here are the game session notes. You can read about the previous game session in this journal entry. This post is quite long, so I've put it behind a cut so that folks who don't want to read any detailed rpg posts don't have to.

Sunday afternoon's session of the Chill 3rd Edition campaign was enjoyable for the most part, though there were a few frustrating moments (notably the interrogations by the police of spross's character). I wasn't sure how much gaming we'd get in because of the freezing rain forecast for the afternoon and evening, but it failed to appear so the players got in almost four hours of gaming. A good session. Things are progressing nicely, some interesting information has been revealed, and the stakes have been raised somewhat (though the players may not be aware of it).

Overall, a good session of Chill 3rd Edition marred only by a couple of events and sequences of poor roleplaying. I'm looking forward to the next session of the game.
