CanGames Begins Tomorrow

It is just one more sleep until CanGames 2016 here in Ottawa. Yay!

Since this is the only gaming convention I'll be going to this year, I'm really looking forward to the convention. Looking forward to meeting old friends and acquaintances, chatting with new folks and the like, and doing the gaming thing, of course. I'm looking forward to running the one Primeval, one Chill 3rd Edition, and two Polaris 3rd Edition games, naturally, though I really do hope that I actually get some players for the four games.

And yes, you heard that right... I'll be running the Polaris 3rd Edition post-apocalyptic underwater science fiction rpg in place of the two sessions of DragonQuest that I was scheduled to run. Here's the write-up on the Polaris 3rd Edition scenario(s) that I'll be running at the convention:

*****
Havoc on Irminger
Game: Polaris 3rd Edition RPG
Time: Saturday, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Number of Players: 5
Description: Hired by the Cult of the Trident to secure the release of one of their operatives, you travel to a small, remote station. Can it be that simple? Adventure in the sf post-apocalyptic underwater rpg world!

My only real concern about the convention is the matter of doing a lot of walking. Because of the (serious) problems I'm having with my left ankle and leg (I'm waiting on an appointment with a vascular surgeon), I don't know how much walking I'm going to be able to do at the convention venue. I may take a cane with me, but I may not. And I've got to watch my blood sugars carefully and take my insulin dose at night during the convention, so that bears some more forethought as well. So we'll see how things go.

Packing for Friday's Session at CanGames

I've been suffering from a bit of vertigo most of the day, and have a bit of a sore throat. It's reminiscent of the start of period where I had that bug that hit me for a period of almost a month and a half, and where I was on antibiotics for a good two weeks. Hope I've not caught the insidious bug again. ::knock on wood::

I finally felt well enough in the late afternoon to start doing the packing of gaming stuff that I need to do for CanGames, which begins tomorrow. Well, at least the gaming stuff for the Primeval RPG session that I'm scheduled to run on Friday night. Scenario, dice, paper & pencils, character sheets for the players, Threat markers, Story Point tokens, and so forth. Started assembling and putting together some of the stuff that I need to take with me vis a vis medications, toiletry stuff (you never know), and some of the foodstuffs for snacking and the like, but that won't get packed until I get back to the house after work tomorrow morning. Most of the rest of the gaming stuff for the weekend is "assembled" and virtually ready to go, just needing to be packed the night before the running of the games.

I'm looking forward to CanGames for the most part, though I find the bringing all the meds and stuff that I need, as well as the gaming stuff itself, a pain in the neck. (I could resolve the latter part by not running any games at the convention, but truth be told, I do like offering some of the more eclectic and/or indie games that I run for folks to play in.) And for those interested enough to care, I will be switching out the DragonQuest game sessions for the Polaris 3rd Edition game sessions for the weekend for reasons that I won't go into now.
