Friday Morning Musings and Ravings

It's Friday morning. Almost got to the weekend.

It's another hot day here in Ottawa, with an expected high of 32oC (with a humidex of around 39 or 40), so I'll be trying to stay inside as much as possible.

Work this morning is fine, though somewhat busy, but I'll be off to the hospital for another appointment in the early afternoon. At least this will be the last one for the week, thank Goddess.

I started the higher dose of Gabapentin yesterday, and I have to say that it's making a little bit of a difference pain-wise, though it's also left me feeling a bit calmer, as well as somewhat slowing me down (at least that's how it feels). Hopefully, the side effects of the new dose won't last too long, but we'll see how that goes.

I'm looking forward to gaming this evening with the Friday night group, but I'll talk about that in a separate post later today.

And finally, needless to say, I've spent way too much time on Twitter following some of the thread about GenCon 2016, and checking out various photos people have posted about the convention so far. Quite envious, of course, but dealing with it. Besides, I've got plenty of stuff to read in the Polaris 3rd Edition game materials, as well as some of the rpg editing I'm currently doing. So definitely keeping busy gaming-wise. :)

Home From Work and the Hospital

Well, I'm home from work by way of the hospital.

It's a good thing I didn't eat lunch before the tests that I had at the hospital, given the drug they gave me (or maybe the dye) made me quite nauseous. But late lunch is now sitting here on the table. Take a look.

Yummy! :)

Got a lot of stuff to do around the house this afternoon before gaming this evening. And I also want to get some editing in on the rpg that I'm currently working on. But for now, food. :)

Alien Dice Have Arrived!

Came home this afternoon to a pleasant surprise, almost like a GenCon treat.

I'll be running the Coriolis - The Third Horizon RPG when it comes out (hopefully in December), but I wanted to get some neat dice that I could use when running the game. Over on the Coriolis Kickstarter, one of the folks there pointed out some neat dice sold by Outer Limit Games for their Tau Ceti: Planetary Crisis board game. To me, these dice look perfect for use with Outer Limit Games, so I ordered a batch of them.

They arrived today. Here'ss a couple of pictures of the dice.

Really nice looking, and glad I ordered them. :)

RPGaDay in August - August 5th: Story, What Story?

We continue on with RPGaDay in August, this year hosted by BrigadeCon.

Today's subject line is borrowed from my friend knightbane.

Day 5 - What Story Does Your Group Tell About Your Character?

That one's easy... They don't. Given that I very rarely get to play a character since I tend to run rpgs 99.9% of the time, they don't have a story about my player characters. That said, they do tell stories about some of the NPCs they've encountered over the years, but that's not what this question was about.

So the point is moot for me.

Friday Night (Board) Gaming Tonight

Getting ready for gaming with the Friday night group this evening.

Since I am not yet ready to run the Polaris 3rd Edition RPG, we are going to be playing board games until further notice (or one of the other players decides to run something). Board games work for me. I don't get to play board games often enough, and they are kind of fun.

Not sure what we'll be playing tonight, but since I'm not attending GenCon 2016 (attending GenCant 2016), I guess), I'll be pretty happy about this.

Have a good night, folks.
