I had a good evening last night with the Friday night gaming group, and was relieved at the outcome of the previous session (see below). DavidM continued on with the Sixcess Core
campaign that he's running. You can read the report on the eighth session
by following the link.
Once DavidM and the other players showed up at my place around 7:00 pm or so last night, we sat around and chatted about the week for a bit, before DavidM announced that it was time to get started.
Herna of Morspell (Kathy) - Swordswoman
Safira Markas (Angela) - Sorceress
Adara Theniss (Ellie) - Thief
Barak Thar (Mark) - Caravan guard
Haven Randar (JohnK) - Forester
Day 7, Month 5, Year 3512
I woke up to find myself lying on a pallet made of wood, covered with a blanket made of leaves and grass. I felt woozy, sick, and hurt in both the left leg and the left shoulder. When I stretched, I almost screamed from the pain. A kindly, female voice told me to relax and rest, that I was in no state to exert myself, and then I heard footsteps leave the room. They seemed to echo on a wooden surface.
I woke again some time later to find myself feeling better, still on the wooden pallet. "Well, he's looking a lot better than last time I checked in on him," says a voice that I recognise as Safira Markas's. I see that the rest of the characters are there as well, and Barak Thar says to someone behind him that they're grateful for what she did for me. I am startled when an elven female of my height with dark green hair steps into view. She says that I'm going to recover, and the others introduce her as Meriel the Healer. She's a forest elf, not one of the barbarian plains elves that attacked us. I ask what happened, and the others brief me on the fact that I've lost four days due to my leg and shoulder wounds. I learn that the plains elves attacked us and would have killed us all had not a troupe of forest elves led by Meriel's brother, Haniel, come to our rescue. I was badly injured by the two bow shots that struck me, and the group feared for my life. It was only Meriel's skill with elven healing magic and healing herbs that allowed me to live. I express my fondest appreciation for Meriel's efforts, and she blushes, before leaving me to the "ministrations" of the others.
Herna of Morspell, Adara Theniss, Safira, and Barak tell me the tale of the battle with the plains elves, and about our subsequent rescue by the forest elves, and the fact that we're currently in the city of Fulthiim, a dwelling place of the woods elves high in the trees. We discuss our options, while I note that the others did not get out of the fight without injury, but none seeming as serious as mine were. Herna tells me that the elves demanded only some clippings of my hair as payment for the services rendered me by Meriel, but Barak adds that the rest of the group has done some work around the tree city for the elves as payment for their being able to stay. Another elf, male this time, brought me some food, and then I returned to slumber.
The next morning, I woke feeling much refreshed, and Meriel came to check on me. She examined my wounds and pronounced me fit, though she warned that I would have some pain in my shoulder for several weeks more. I tested my shoulder in an exercise of pulling a bow, and felt a twinge of pain that didn't seem all that hindering, and her eyes lit up when she realised I was a bowman. I corrected her, telling her I was a forester, with some skill with a bow, and she laughed, saying that I was modest. She told me that the others had told her of my prowess with a bow, and I blushed. She excused herself, leaving me to wash and dress myself, and when I was finished, I joined Adara, who was waiting for me. She said that she'd been worried about me, and that she was glad I was alive. We went outside, and I got my first look at the treetop city.
Friday night's game session of the Sixcess Core
fantasy campaign went really well, and while I didn't get as much play time as the others (due to the injuries I'd suffered the week before keeping Haven off his feet), it was a fun session and I got to see the other players get some good roleplaying in. Got to observe DavidM's GMing techniques, and have to say that I really did get some valuable insight into running games of Sixcess Core
. Should serve me well when I run Promised Sands
sometime down the road.
Overall, a good game session, relaxed from my point of view, but I'm definitely looking forward to next week's session of play.
