We continue on with #RPGaDay in August.

Day 13 - Describe how your play has evolved.

Good question.

From a player perspective, I think it comes down to the fact that I started gaming as a 20-year-old and I'm now 63 years old. I like to think that I've matured as a gamer and that I've learned how to be a better gamer over the years.

As a GameMaster, I've definitely matured over the years, though I can still do some humour when I need to in-game, but my GMing has evolved beyond the idea that conflict is always physical combat. There are a lot of other types of conflict to be found (psychological and social, to name but two) and I find that I use various types in adventures to get the players going. My gaming evolution when running games has also led me to less of a Dungeons & Dragons mentality, to systems that are more adventurous in their approaches to the game and to seamlessness between game world and game mechanics. And yes, I've also evolved into a better storyteller and communicator when GMing and have come to embrace the newness of gaming with people I don't know at conventions.

Sunday Afternoon Game Report - Torg Eternity, Session 8

The Sunday afternoon gaming group continued play of their Torg Eternity RPG campaign, set in the Cyberpapacy, yesterday afternoon. You can read the blog entry on the previous session by following the link. This post is somewhat long, so I've put it behind a cut for those who don't want to read about my roleplaying game campaigns.

Sunday afternoon's session of the Torg Eternity game was pretty good, and wrapped up the current adventure the players were playing. The session only took about two hours, since it was just the final scene of the adventure, and the players had a good time of it, though there were a couple of hairy moments during the final fight.

Since SteveR is going to run some Star Trek Adventures for a bit, I'm not sure when I'll get back to the game. In the meantime, I'm just looking forward to playing for a bit. :)
