Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Today is celebrated in the United States and regionally in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (The Day of the Battle of Puebla). It originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to commemorate the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War, and today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. In the state of Puebla, the date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.

Here are 11 Facts You Need to Know About Cinco de Mayo.

And in the meantime, have a great day!
It's a pleasant enough spring day in the Ottawa valley today, good news for the folks who've been affected by the flooding in the region.

The Sunday afternoon gamers are coming out this afternoon to play, so I'm looking forward to gaming with them today. They'll be playing another test spin of the John Carter of Mars Roleplaying Game this afternoon with a couple of different characters for it - green Martians! - this time out this afternoon.

Looking forward to running today's game, but am still somewhat nervous about it.

Have a good afternoon (and evening), folks. :)
