Working From Home

This is one of those days where I woke up and was glad that I could work from home.

The weather outside is terrible, with snow falling and wind blowing the snow all over the place. The temperature is relatively warm, but the stiff wind is making for a very cool wind chill factor. The snow started falling late last night and dropped around 8 cms. (3.2 inches) of snow, and is still falling. It's supposed to drop another 15 to 20 cms. (6 to 8 inches) of the white stuff before the rush hour traffic begins1, and it's not going to stop until sometime tomorrow morning, making for a few more cms. of the white stuff, and making the Thursday morning commute and all hardly enjoyable.

In the meantime, I'm sitting here at my desk with the business laptop, sipping hot herbal tea, and working away through the remote connection with work. Donna has already called here to let me know that the office is pretty deserted, but those who are there are working away diligently. The boss has told her that they'll be closing up for the day around 1 or 2 pm, as the weather is expected to get worse.

1 Bearing in mind that the Ottawa Transit strike is still going on, so that should make getting home for the folks who went to work...interesting.
