I've been busy, what with work and the return of the Fall television schedule, not to mention some reading and gaming, so the journal has been low man on the totem pole, so to speak.
It's the Turkey Weekend here in Canada (that's Thanksgiving to everyone who doesn't know), so I've got an extra day off on Monday. Can really use it, as it's been a long couple of weeks of work, and to be honest, I've not had as much personal time as I would have liked.
The Fall television season hasn't had a lot of stuff that I want to watch, but I am watching several new shows. Vanished has been quite compelling, and is turning out to be a fabulous mystery so far, with far-reaching conspiracies going on, and all sorts of neat twists and turns. Men in Trees is still entertaining to watch, and I think that I underestimated Anne Heche's acting ability in this one. The supporting cast has been very good as well, something that adds to the show's appeal. Another show that has got me somewhat hooked is Jericho. To be honest, I wasn't going to watch it after the first episode, which didn't do a thing for me, but the second episode was far better, and I'm now curious as to what's going to happen to the characters. (Yes, Tammy, if you're reading this, you were right!) Heroes, the modern-day superhero series, hasn't really rubbed me the right way yet. It's done by Tim Kring, the guy behind Crossing Jordan, and I will likely watch for another couple of weeks to see more. Grey's Anatomy is back for its third season (the first season was only 9 episodes), and so far has been an enjoyable ride once more. No real surprises so far, but we'll see what the next few episodes bring.
I've been gearing up to run the Hollow Earth Expedition roleplaying game of Pulp adventure. The Play By e-Mail (PBeM) game is coming along, with the players working on their characters for the game, and I've got the Friday night group playing their first session and scenario of the game this evening. Will try to recount what happens in the game tonight some time this weekend, possibly here in an entry, but it will likely end up on the Exile Games forums. I don't know yet. Still a few things to do on the game when I get home.
Book reading has slowed down somewhat, due to the fact that between the new tv season and the return of hockey, I only get to read late at night before bed, but I've finished a couple of non-fiction books and have started to read an anthology of Pulp adventures that has been pretty good so far. That and my October Locus, which arrived in a timely fashion as usual.
The weather is warming up here in the city for the long weekend, very odd for this time of year, but nothing should surprise me, guess. It's been pretty cold at night of late, with frost warnings in effect and that sort of thing.
Oh, and I did manage to finally buy me a new blanket. :)
