The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Detroit Red Wings, in Detroit, 2-1, to win the Stanley Cup. Wow! Sidney Crosby hoisted Lord Stanley's hardware, the youngest team captain ever to do so. The Penguins showed the grit and the willingness to do what had to be done tonight to take the Cup from a team that had a dynasty going. Does this mean that the Penguins have just taken the first step towards a new dynasty?
In any event, while I haven't been able to get excited about the whole Stanley Cup thing (after all, there were no Canadian teams left at the end!), my thoughts have been more on the whole Dany Heatley mess here in Ottawa, and the shake-up that it's going to require. I suspect the Senators are about to embark on a rebuilding phase, but we'll just have to see.
In the meantime, congrats to Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and the Penguins! Hoist that Cup high, boys...you've earned it!
