DragonQuest, and Life's Little Problems

It felt just like coming home... ::contented look::

I ran the DragonQuest fantasy rpg again last night for the first time in ages...

The gaming session (about five hours) last night went exceedingly well, and the rules of DragonQuest are, for me, fitting like a comfortable old glove once more. Kathy had the files on CD-Rom of the game sessions that we've played, so with a bit of an adjustment for stuff that need not be mentioned here, the campaign picked up right where we left off. Best set of lines last night:

*****
Me (GM): The castle walls loom up in front of you, and you have a sense of déja vu. There are two guards standing near what appears to be a guardpost, armed with swords and pikes, and wearing leather armour.

Kathy (Kira): I walk up to the guards. (Smile). Hi there!

Me (GM) (As guard): Halt! Who are you, and state your purpose for visiting Ontoncle.

Kathy (horrified tone): Oh, no, John! Tell me it's not the Palace of freaking Ontoncle again!

Me (GM): (Smile)

Goddess, but it's good to see some things never change. :) They handled the situation they encountered quite nicely, and things went very smoothly in the game. The characters have been asked, based on their previous work for him, to help the hereditary ruler of Ontoncle in finding out who or what has been responsible for the deaths of several of the townsfolk in the area. Needless to say, it may or may not be related to the history of the Palace of Ontoncle, and some of the stuff that player characters did there years ago. hehe

If there was a down side to yesterday, it was two-fold. First off, it's been snowing like mad outside since last night, the temperature is down around -70C (about 260F for those of you in the U.S.), and we're supposed to get some 15 centimeters (about 6 inches) of the stuff before it stops.

And secondarily, the really bad news is that I wrenched my shoulder or did something to it yesterday that has me in serious pain, and barely able to move that arm at all right now. This is the same arm that I dislocated several years back, and it's never been the same for me since. I think I may have done this when I was moving the boxes around in the storage room in order to get the DragonQuest game stuff out. I think I'm going to spend the day just relaxing and reading a few comics or some such. That, and get ready for tomorrow's game with the Sunday group, weather and my arm permitting.

A nice cup of Chai and a Tylenol also sounds good for right now.
