Very Poor Effort

England has been thoroughly beaten and thrashed by a German side that was much better than anyone expected them to be. Final score was 4-1. Germany moves on to the Round of 8, while England is eliminated.

The sad thing about this loss is that the Germans fielded a very young team, many of their players no older than 23 or so, whereas the English fielded a team marked by some bright young lights, but several aging stars. It is no surprise that England lost this game, and the folks who head up the English football authority need to revise their game plan for 2014...seriously revise it.

In the meantime, I am off to run the Sunday gaming group through a new scenario in Desolation. Looking forward to this after that miserable game England played.

I think the disallowed goal played a part, but England didn't really get going except for those 5 minutes of so after the goal, they were closing Germany down and moving with pace. It was only the second time they'd played Premiership style football in the whole tournament (the other being the goal against the USA).

No, you're right about the fact that they didn't get it going. It was, to be honest, a very poor, lacklustre effort on the part of the English team, and I have to wonder if heads are going to roll because of it.
