Yesterday afternoon, FedEx shows up at my door around 3:30 pm with a package from the folks at Cubicle 7. This, despite the fact that I assumed that the game stuff I ordered would be coming via snail post. I sign for the package, and upon opening it back inside the house, I see that there is a copy of ICONS, Atomic Highway, and Irradiated Freaks. Except that the copies of the books are all slightly marred and scrunched on the corners, and Atomic Highway is somewhat...bent on one corner, like when one folds a napkin. To make things worse, there is no sign of the two copies of All For One: Régime Diabolique in the box at all.

To make matters worse, I look at the labels and stuff on the box, and discover several things. First off, the box was sent out by courier on August 13th, at least two to three weeks *after* the date that the game stuff was supposedly shipped out. In other words, my pre-order of books wasn't processed until well after some of the games started appearing in game shoppes and the like and other people who had pre-ordered after I did got their weeks ago. Second, it was shipped out with a 2-day delivery notice on it. Even assuming a package could cross the U.S.-Canada border in two days, it should have been here in maybe days. But it's clear from the paperwork on the box that's missing that Customs opened the box. So, now I have to wonder whether someone ripped off the copies of AFO: RD at Customs, or whether the books weren't in the book to begin with.
So I made a second call to England this morning to talk to Angus, but he wasn't in the office. I left a message, somewhat longer than I would have liked, with the receptionist and wasted another call to England.
I'm stressed, I'm angry, and I'm annoyed at not having the gaming books that I want to read. And I'm thinking that I'm going to put Cubicle 7 on my "No Order Zone" list. The really bad news is that I've already pre-paid for several other rpg books and boxed sets from them. Stupid me. :<
