I've got to say that this was one of the most boring games to watch in the current playoff run of the Senators, as both teams played a very defensive game, although perhaps part of it was that they were still tired from Saturday night's double overtime game. The most exciting part of the game was the final eight minutes of the second period where both teams went end-to-end, with some speed, some hitting, and overall energy, and the final three minutes, where the Devils desperately pulled out all the stops to try and get the goal back and equalise the game, before Jason Spezza's empty netter put it out of reach.
Ray Emery was just good enough to get the win, as the Devils didn't test him all that severely, but Martin Brodeur put on another goaltending show, and didn't deserve the fate that he got in this one. The Senators dodged a bullet, considering they were on home ice, and it didn't seem to energise them all that much. Still a win is a win, and they now lead the series 2 games to 1, with Game 4 set to go here in Ottawa again tomorrow night.
Go Sens Go! :)
