Woke up for work this morning, and around 6:30 am decided that I wasn't driving through that stuff. Not to mention, the traffic would have been horrendous with lots of accidents and the like (the papers the last few days have mentioned lots of car accidents in the city, due to the ice and snow). What with the occasional falls of what the weather forecasters call "light flurries" that appear to be dumping around 7-8 cms. of snow each time, the city has become a winter driving accident zone of sorts, or so it seems to me. Called the office, and a work laptop arrived on my doorstep around 7:30 am, so I am working from home.
Sure, I'll have to go outside and shovel off the car at some point today, but that's minor compared to driving through the snow right now. That and the fact that it seems to me that a large chunk of Ottawa drivers don't seem to know how to drive in this stuff, despite their living in a city that gets a pretty good dose of snow every year, and has just been lucky up to now.
So far, it's been a productive day of work (even if I am only a couple of hours into it, and am taking a break for a cup of hot chai tea with a small cookie), and I've just been able to get on with it.
In the meantime, I'm looking forward to gaming tonight with my Friday night gamers, assuming all is well with them.
