Fossilised Spider "Biggest on Record"

A newly discovered fossil of a spider, called Nephilia jurassica at this time, related to the golden orb weavers, a group of spiders well known in the present day, had a leg span of some 15 cms (app. 6 inches). The previous oldest spider fossil remains of this type were from the Cretaceous, but this find takes them back all the way to the Jurassic period.
